Walking the Globe: A Modern Explorer's Challenge

Karl Bushby, a former British paratrooper, is nearing the end of an extraordinary journey. He has been walking around the world for 27 years. This journey, known as the Goliath Expedition, started in 1998 in Chile. Bushby is now in Hungary, facing a world that has changed drastically since he began. Back then, social media did not exist. Bushby carried a simple camera and film rolls. His main focus was survival, especially when crossing dangerous areas like the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama. Today, he deals with the pressure of social media, which he resisted until this year. Bushby's journey was supposed to take eight years. However, financial crises, pandemics, and geopolitical issues caused many delays. He expects to finish by late 2026. The mental challenges have been tough. The monotony of deserts and the harshness of the Arctic have tested his resilience. Finishing the journey will bring its own challenges. Bushby plans to start new projects to keep himself busy.
