A peculiar weather incident in South Carolina has left experts scratching their heads. On Thursday, something extraordinary happened near Orangeburg County and Colleton County. A vehicle flipped over on Interstate 26, close to mile marker 140, and a tree blocked the road on Bells Highway. Authorities suspect this might be the work of a tornado. The National Weather Service noticed signs of rotation in a storm around 10:55 a. m. in Orangeburg County. Later, they reported that a downed tree near Lodge, close to the border with Bamberg County, could have been caused by a “possible tornado. ” But is it really? A tornado warning was issued Wednesday afternoon when doppler radar spotted some rotation. Experts will survey the area on Friday to figure out if it was indeed a tornado or just strong winds. This is an ongoing investigation, so stay tuned for more updates.
