Weapons Cache Found in Gaza Clinic: UNRWA and IDF at Odds

In a surprising turn of events, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) arrived at a UNRWA clinic in Jabalia, Gaza, only to find a stash of Hamas weapons. IDF troops were initially attacked by Hamas fighters inside the clinic, forcing the military to call an airstrike. This resulted in a secondary explosion, confirming the presence of weapons. The IDF has previously accused UNRWA of links to Hamas, but the UN agency denies these claims, stating that intense fighting has forced many of their sites to close. Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA's commissioner-general, reported that the recent fighting has led to hundreds of Palestinian deaths and a health system on the brink of collapse. The IDF has stepped up operations in Jabalia to target Hamas fighters, including those involved in a deadly attack in October. Israel’s parliament is considering designating UNRWA as a terrorist organization after firing staff suspected of aiding Hamas.
