Weekend weather in Massachusetts is shaping up to be a mix of rain, cold, and possibly even some snow. It all starts with light rain on Saturday morning. This rain won't be heavy, with most areas seeing less than a quarter of an inch. The South Coast, around Hyannis and New Bedford, might get the most rain, but it still won't be a lot. By noon or 1 p. m. , the rain should start to ease up as a cold front moves through. Temperatures will be chilly, with highs in the mid to upper 40s. For example, Boston and Springfield might only reach 40 degrees, while Worcester could hit 47 degrees. The Cape and Islands might see the warmest temperatures, around 48 degrees. As the cold front passes, skies will start to clear from west to east. However, Eastern Massachusetts might stay cloudy until sunset. Overnight, temperatures will drop significantly. Most of the state will see lows in the low to mid 20s, with the northwestern part possibly dipping into the high teens. On Sunday, it's going to be much colder. High temperatures will struggle to reach the low 40s. In the afternoon, there might be some scattered rain showers. If the temperature is near freezing, there's a chance that the rain could mix with snow, especially in the interior parts of the state. Looking ahead to next week, temperatures might climb into the low 50s on Tuesday and could even reach 60 degrees on Wednesday. However, there's a chance of rain late Tuesday into Wednesday as a low pressure system approaches. This could impact travelers before Thanksgiving. By Thursday, the weather is expected to be drier but cooler, with highs in the upper 40s to 50 degrees and breezy winds. Black Friday might be sharply colder, with highs only reaching the upper 30s to low 40s.
