Comet 3I/ATLAS has sparked a lot of talk, especially among celebrities and a few scientists. It’s not an alien spaceship, but some people still have questions. The comet was first spotted by the ATLAS telescope in Chile back in July. Later, an observatory in South Africa picked up radio signals from it, which match what you’d expect from a regular comet.
But not everyone is convinced. Kim Kardashian asked about it on social media, and NASA’s acting administrator had to clarify that it’s just a comet and not a threat. Joe Rogan also discussed it on his podcast with Harvard professor Avi Loeb, who has suggested it could be alien technology. Rogan seemed open to the idea, pointing out that the comet does some unusual things.
Other experts, like physicist Michio Kaku, think the comet might be very old, around 7 billion years, and that’s why it looks different. He also mentioned that NASA hasn’t shared much about the data collected when the comet passed by Mars. This lack of information is making people more curious and speculative.
Kaku agrees that the chances of it being something other than a comet are slim, but he also thinks NASA should share more to avoid unnecessary rumors. So, while most scientists say it’s just a comet, the mystery around 3I/ATLAS keeps the conversation going.
