Artificial intelligence (AI) is a hot topic these days. Everyone is talking about it. But who will it really help? That's the big question. Sen. Bernie Sanders and AI expert Geoffrey Hinton recently shared their thoughts on this.
Sanders thinks the main issue is who has control over AI. He doubts that tech billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are investing in AI to help regular people. He asked if anyone really believes these billionaires are investing in AI to make life better for workers. He doesn't think so. Sanders pointed out that even when AI could make work safer and more productive, the benefits often don't reach the workers.
Hinton, known as the "godfather of AI, " had a different take. He believes AI could handle most jobs one day. But he warned that without the right political systems, AI could make inequality worse. He said AI should be designed to care about people, not just make profits.
Meanwhile, the U. S. government is looking into setting national standards for AI. This comes as China is also making big strides in AI technology. Big tech companies are investing huge amounts of money into AI. But will this investment help everyone or just a few?
It's clear that AI has the potential to change our lives. But who will decide how it's used? And will it be used for the benefit of all or just a few? These are the questions we need to ask.
