Worcester’s Apartment Plan Gets a New Deadline
Worcester, Massachusetts, USAFri Apr 03 2026
The city’s planning board decided to push back the review of a request for more time on a downtown apartment project.
The developer, HHM Cube from Springfield, asked for extra days to lock in funding, finish the building drawings, and file a permit.
Instead of hearing about it on April 1, the board moved the discussion to April 22 after the developer’s request.
Earlier this year, the board had already cleared the site layout and granted a special mixed‑use permit on February 5, 2025.
Both approvals expired in February, so the developer must submit a new site plan and seeks an extension on the permit.
The planned complex will house 139 units, with 18 reserved for residents earning no more than 60 % of the Worcester area’s median income.
Those income limits are $52, 380 for a single person and $59, 880 for two people, according to federal housing data.
Parking will not be added on site; residents are expected to use the nearby Pearl‑Elm garage, which offers 819 spaces.
The board’s postponement gives HHM Cube more time to address these issues before the next review.
