Xiaomi's New Tech Brings Windows Games to Tablets

Playing your favorite Windows games on a tablet—that's what Xiaomi aims to achieve with its new virtualization software, WinPlay. This technology is designed to run at least some high-end Windows games on Xiaomi's HyperOS tablets, although it won't match the performance of a GeForce system. WinPlay doesn't need cloud servers; it uses the tablet's own power. It's a three-layer system that translates Windows games so they can run on mobile devices. Users can download games from Steam and enjoy a near-native gaming experience, with only a minor 2. 9 percent loss in GPU performance. The tech uses Xiaomi's HyperCore kernel, which had to be reworked to support WinPlay. This means resources are smartly allocated and dedicated gaming peripherals like keyboards, mice, and controllers can be used. Xiaomi has optimized it for Xbox controllers, adding haptic feedback. However, the tech isn't perfect. Games like Tomb Raider 9 run at about 45 frames per second, which might not impress hardcore gamers. Power consumption is low, at just 8. 3W, but the experience is still being improved. Currently, WinPlay is only available in beta for the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12. 4 tablet running Hyper OS 2 Beta. Future plans and compatibility with other devices aren't clear yet. Xiaomi is focusing on user feedback to make WinPlay better.
