Yellowstone fans might miss Kevin Costner, but the show's cast seems to be handling it just fine. Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, recently revealed that the absence of the two-time Oscar winner made the final season a breeze. In a chat with Esquire, Grimes shared that Costner's departure, due to his commitment to another film, 'Horizon: An American Saga', simplified things on set. "It was time, " Grimes said, hinting at the natural progression of the show. Without the drama that follows a big personality like Costner's, filming became smoother. Grimes even joked that it was the easiest season yet. Costner's character, John Dutton, the powerful patriarch, was killed off this season in a murder-for-hire plot, leaving room for other characters to shine. Grimes' character, Kayce, for instance, got to step up and take charge. "Kayce's always been under his dad's thumb, " Grimes explained. "Now he gets to figure things out on his own. " This shift gave Grimes a chance to explore his character more deeply, which he found rewarding. As the main show wraps up, the Yellowstone universe is far from over. Spin-offs centered around various characters are in the works. The upcoming series, featuring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, will continue the story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Another spin-off, '1923', is set to return for its second season soon, with more spin-offs like 'The Madison' on the way.
