Most private‑insurance moms got screened, about 93% of the time, while Medicaid moms were lower, around 75%. First‑trimester testing was higher for private plans, near 82%, versus roughly 52% for Medicaid.
The rate of repeat testing more than doubled for both groups, showing more doctors are following the guidelines. About half of moms with a syphilis diagnosis got the right penicillin shot, while a small slice used other antibiotics that aren’t recommended.
